Autism is a developmental disorder that affects the brain’s normal development of social and communication skills. The prevalence of Autism is properly classified as an epidemic, and a recent study revealed 1 in 56 children have some form of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The lifetime incremental cost of education, treatment and care of a person with autism is $3.2 million. Clearly this is a tremendous additional cost on families and on communities...unless we prioritize finding innovative approaches to working with children with Autism.
In our inaugural year, The Fox Family Ride for Autism was able to raise over $12,000. which allowed us to help each child with Autism at Parkway Local Schools.
In our 2nd year we're happy to announce that we brought in over $20,000 which went a long way to helping out other families through out Mercer County and the Surrounding Area. That year, nearly 100 individuals with autism were granted an iPad® by iTaalk nationally, and over 1,000 service providers and parents were provided with the necessary education on using an iPad® with individuals with special needs.
In our 3rd year we raised nearly $20,000. We have helped nearly 70 individuals with autism in the Mercer County and the Surrounding Areas.
In the 4th and 5th year, we saw a record numbers of bike and riders toping in at over 250 bringing our total fundraiser amount to $65K+ raised in 5 years.
Like most things, the pandemic threw a wrench into our 6th and 7th annual ride. Even though we were unable to gather for a large poker run, we were able to pair with Second Crossing Brew Co. in Rockford, OH to release the PUZZLE PIECE PILSNER. This beer release along with generous donation from local business and individuals allowed us to still help several family in need!!
Year 8 was the come back of the POKER RUN. With over 120 participants, it was great to bet back to our roots.
Over the last 8 YEARS we have helped over 150 students with autism in our community. We are so proud of everything our community has done and we hope to continue to grow.
